The Magic of Pavel

The Magic of Pavel” by Supreme Magic is the first book in English written by Czech magician Pavel  Pomezny.

Pavel was born in Prague on the 4th April, 1945. At an early age Pavel has showed signs of being a very talented magician. At just 17 years old he won the title of “Magician of the Year “at a Czech Convention.

Pavel is of course most well known for his FISM award winning “Super Walking Knot” which won him the invention prize at the 1982 FISM in Switzerland, where Pavel had lived since 1969.

In the preface Peter Warlock writes: “The beauty of Pavel's magic lies in its simplicity of plot and the simplicity of means to attain the necessary end. In this he has a strong affinity with another of magic's great inventors, Marconick”. The late Peter Warlock refers to of course the Dutch magician Marconick (Heinz Nikolas Stolk ), who also passed away in 2008.

A book in two parts, in the first Pavel shares his philosophy on creating and inventing new and original magic. Or as Pavel himself says, you can use one of forty effects described in the second part of the book, numbers with ropes, bottles, silks, records, cards and other objects.

Most of these Pavel was used in his own performances or demonstrated them in his lectures.

Every effect is clearly illustrated (by Josef Manas) and the book is written simply so that it is easy for the reader to understand and grasp each effect straight away.

If you are looking for new material for your performance then don’t skip this book and also visit Pavel’s site (http://www.pavelmagic.com)

Unfortunately Pavel himself passed in 2011, but his wife still manages the website. If you are looking for rope and silk magic which is direct and visual you should certainly take a look.
